Accommodation

The Cottage Stanley Pontlarge will comfortably sleep six. There are three double bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds. There is a smaller cottage, Orchard Cottage, which is usually rented separately, but can be booked along with the main house, making it possible for parties of eight plus two children to stay at the same time. Find out more about Orchard Cottage.

Since their arrival in 1921, the Rolt family have maintained the character of the house, while making it more practical to live in. Tom and Sonia Rolt, who lived here from 1953 to 2014, are largely responsible for the style and character of the interior. From the small study, now presented very much as it was in his lifetime, Tom wrote many of the books he is still remembered for.

The house is a celebration of the legacy of the lives, work and interests of Tom and Sonia Rolt. If the furniture and style remind visitors of Landmark Trust properties, that's no coincidence, for Sonia was responsible for furnishing Landmark Trust properties from their foundation in 1965 until the 1980s.
